Yamazaki Distiller's Reserve is a blend of whiskeys that have matured in Bordeaux wine casks, sherry casks and Mizunara Japanese oak vessels.
The age information of the whiskey is deliberately omitted, so that the whiskey is not judged solely on the basis of a printed number, but of one's own taste buds.
The Distiller's Reserve Single Malt Whiskey smells of strawberry, cherry and oak (Mizunara casks are responsible for this). On the palate, raspberry, peach and a hint of coconut unfold. In the finish, vanilla and a hint of cinnamon emerge.
