Château Mouton Rothschild 2005

The 2005 Mouton Rothschild (85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot and 1% Cabernet Franc) has a sensational nose of crème de cassis and incense along with a touch of pencil shavings and undergrowth. A dense purple, this is one of the biggest and richest Médoc wines I have tasted. It is full-bodied, pure and impressive. Certainly, the selection process and the vineyard took place in admirable form. This wine has a certain approachability due to the sweetness of the tannins, but it is multi-dimensional, with a majestic mouthfeel and length.
"Alcohol is harmful to health, to be enjoyed in moderation."
